About the event
Yoga Nidra Workshop with Rachel Juergens
.
Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, is a state of conscious deep rest, where the body is completely relaxed yet capable of increasing awareness of the inner world. Dr. Richard Miller used Nidra to develop the iRest protocol for successfully treating military personnel in response to the soaring PTSD rates.Â
.
People reported decreased stress, anxiety, fear, and depression; improved sleep habits with fewer sleep disturbances; decreased perception of chronic and acute pain; increased energy levels and a sense of control in daily life; more confidence, joy, peace and well-being. One hour of yoga nidra is equivalent to 4 hours of deep rest.
.
We will practice different breathing techniques that can be used in our everyday lives, 15-20 mins of gentle yoga stretching, and enjoy a still yoga nidra practice.(You may like to bring a journal to jot down any take-aways from your nidra.) Group discussion or one on one conversation are welcome after we've finished up.
.
Dress comfortably. You are welcome to bring your own mat. For Nidra we want to make a nest to be able to settle in and become as comfortable as possible. Pillows, blankets, eye mask, bolsters/towels or blankets for under the knees, and extra layers of clothes if you like.
